Étretat, with its picturesque cliffs, is a seaside resort located 200 km from Paris.
Romantic theater open on the Channel ... Étretat attracted and inspired many painters (Monet, Corot, Boudin ...), filmmakers and writers (Maupassant, ...).

Trouville by BOUDIN

Honfleur invites you to discover its picturesque streets and its narrow, slate-covered houses and half-timbered façades. On the estuary of the Seine, city of painters and Impressionism, "Honfleur has this extra soul that makes it irresistible". The changing lights of the sky inspired the painters (Courbet, Monet, Boudin ..). Even today, there are many galleries and artists' studios.

A step away from its famous neighbor, Deauville, Trouville-sur-mer is a seaside resort full of charm … its villas belle-epoque, its beautiful beach.

Located in the north of Venice, and possessing fertile lands, the island of San Erasmo is considered as the Gardens of Venice thanks to their plantations of fruits and vegetables.

This  island, is known for its lace, but what we love above all in Burano are its  colorful little houses.

Venice…The "City of Bridges”, an island city which is located on 118 small islands...

Someone told about this city “To build a city where it is impossible to build a city is madness in itself, but to build there one of the most elegant and grandest of cities is the madness of genius.” Alexander Herzen

To discover Venice, you can use a gondola (for the fun) but The main mean of transportation in Venice is by boat(the vaporetto) , as the city is surrounded by canals … you can visit it by foot too (my favorite way)

Of course, there are the places that you must see : St. Mark’s Basilica, St. Mark’s Square,Canale Grande, Rialto bridge, Doges Palace, Bridge of Sighs, San Marco Campanile.

You discover them among the continuous flow of tourist of the whole world, taking the vaporetto ( it has a taste of the metro at rush hours in Paris)

But the best, finally is to leave the tourist routes and to lose yourself in the narrow streets on foot ( venice has the luxury of not having cars ) … the best way to escape the crowds and make the most of this over-visited city …and for me the best thing to do in Venice …

Bye-bye Alsace

the Alsatian Wine Route passes through a string of picturesque villages  and vineyards

The plain of Alsace is the name given to a vast plain covering a large part of Alsace. This plain is between the Vosges mountains to the west and the Rhine to the east.

The Hohneck   (1366 m) it is the second Vosges summit.
At its summit we  found a  Brasserie Hotel Restaurant with a unique panoramic view in the Vosges on the Vosges and Alsatian valleys… happy  to  warm up  and have some food

we discovered  too a reindeer farm  in the Vosges (the favorite animal of Santa Claus has nearly no secret for us … a peaceful life … it was  before  Christmas rush)

it would have  be a shame to be so close to the German border and not to see what is on the other side. So let’s go to Fribourg and the black forest (very disappointing for me ….the black forest was a magical word  before …may be because the black forest cake is one of my favourite cake)

I will finish my report about  our Alsatian  trip by a high point : a local wine tasting
Jean-Paul  Mauler, a passionate wine grower   opened  his  cellar for tastings of wines with various flavors, always pleasant and surprising!

We experiment a wide range of  Alsatian wines  : Sylvaner, Riesling, Muscat d'Alsace, Pinots ,and after each tasting, the atmosphere was more and more warm and cheerful

YES,  for those who still think that France is Paris and the French Riviera, there is much more to see .. There is ALSACE too
Before this trip, my knowledge of Alsace had stopped at secondary school and for me, it was a region known for its complicated and painful history during the first and second world war ... the idea that it could be a tourist destination had never really gone through my head ... shame on me ...

Alsace wasn’nt in our bucket list ….and I don’t know  how it became a destination four our family trip ….but   the discover of this  area of France have been above of all our expectations

First stopover Colmar : Our headquarters in Alsace

we fell   in love with our flat in COLMAR ( a flat … linked to the history of the Comte of Ribeaupierre ….the ceiling decorated with its arms. ), situated in the center of the city, spacious and with a warm decoration

Daily life ... a big family of 13 people .... Good humor ... freedom ... everyone in his difference find his place naturally ....

"Travelling"  and "eating  well" ... are inseparable for some of us ... for others, we do not deny  the  pleasure  of good food ... then in the country of gastronomy, it takes minimum a chef ( we got it …he was australien) .. who says “chef” ... says fresh products  and an army of cooking commis

De Rymnik a Rupea

un peu de gastronomie roumaine

Loin de nous l'idée  de faire  un post sur la gastronomie roumaine ( on en serait incapable) mais on a retenu 3 plats
La ciorbă est une soupe typique pour la péninsule des Balkans qui se caractérise par un goût acide, dû à une base de son de blé fermenté appelé borș, ou encore de vinaigre, de jus de citron, ou du jus de choucroute.
l'étymologie du mot ciorbă est la même que celle du mot chorba et remonte à la période ottomane. Les ciorbas contiennent généralement de la viande (porc, veau, agneau, poulet, canard, et autres) des légumes (oignon, ail, carotte, céleri, pomme de terre, poivron, tomate et autres), des herbes aromatiques (l’aneth, l’estragon, les feuilles de céleri...)

Les papanași (pronocez «  papanache ») sont un dessert traditionnel roumain, qui se présente sous la forme de beignets sucrés au fromage blanc recouverts de crème et confiture de cerise, servis généralement par paire..
C’est pas mauvais du tout !




Le lángos est une sorte de pain en forme de galette cuit dans l'huile  issue de la cuisine hongroise et répandue en Europe centrale. Confectionné à partir de farine de blé ou de pommes de terre, il est traditionnellement dégusté en cuisine de rue durant les fêtes et les festivals, accommodé de fromage et de crème aigre
Ça se laisse même manger !   

Homorod

Homorod est un village de Transylvanie, connu aussi pour son église évangélique  fortifiée.

Les premiers habitants d’Homorod venaient de Belgique, et sont arrivés au XIIe siècle. Ensuite est venu un autre peuple germanique ( les saxons)  qui a fondé au XIIIe siècle l’église luthérienne. Les saxons, voyant la possibilité d’une invasion (les envahisseurs tartares et turcs) probable, ont construit autour de l’église une fortification  qui pouvait accueillir tout le village en cas d’urgence. La fortification est plus récente, du XVe siècle. Les églises fortifiée des Transylvanie sont inscrites au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO

De l'émotion, du respect  ..c 'est ce qu on ressent quand on visite ces églises évangéliques fortifiées ...

VISCRI

Le petit village de VISCRI se mérite. Éloigné de tout, il faut parcourir pendant plus d’une heure la campagne roumaine pour y arriver depuis Rupea.

VISCRI est connue pour la plus ancienne église fortifiée de Transylvanie  et l’une des plus belles également.Mais le village est également célèbre pour ses anciennes demeures saxonnes(1), très bien conservées.(Le Prince Charles s’en est même acheté une).

A Viscri, on a un début de développement touristique ( une boutique qui vend quelques produits artisanaux ( chaussettes en laine, objets en bois ,..) et "un petit salon de thé".

(1)C’est ici que s’est installée, comme dans d’autres endroits du pays, une colonie de Saxons( peuple germanique)  à la fin du XIIème siècle. Face à l’invasion tartare( peuple turc) ainsi qu’à la menace ottomane, ces derniers ont fortifié leur église au cours des siècles.

DACIA

En effet, Dacia est un constructeur d'automobiles roumain, filiale du groupe français Renault. Les véhicules produits sont commercialisés sous la marque Dacia en Europe et sous la marque Renault dans le reste du monde
Son nom correspond à la forme latine du nom de la province romaine qui correspond à la Roumanie actuelle : la Dacie.
La Dacie (en roumain : Dacia) est, dans l’Antiquité, un territoire correspondant approximativement à ceux des actuelles Roumanie, Moldavie et des régions adjacentes.

Mais Dacia, c’est aussi un charmant petit village agricole de la Transylvanie,avec son Église évangélique fortifiée (construite au XIII-XIXe siècle. Nous vous invitons à une petite ballade à DACIA

Le monastère de CIOLANU

Le monastère de Ciolanu est un monastère de moines orthodoxes, situé prés de Buzau.A coté du monastère, il y a un champs de sculptures en pierre en plein air

Seul pays latin de religion orthodoxe (80 % des croyants) , la Roumanie est très marquée par la foi et la spiritualité. L'Église exerce sur l'ensemble de la société une forte influence, que l'on constate dans la religiosité omniprésente , même chez les jeunes

Monastère de CIOLANU

Le marché

La Roumanie est le pays le plus rural de l Europe.47% de la population vit a la campagne. Le marché est encore un lieu d'achat primordial.

Et la on est dans le consommer et produire local…loin de notre société de consommation occidentale …
Pas de mangues, pas d’ananas, pas de kiwis …que sais-je ?
Mais des fromages, de la charcuterie séchée et fumée, des choux , des carottes, des cébettes, des radis, des concombres, des pommes de terre  …. Des orties, des pissenlits ….du miel, des confitures
On est dans le "circuit court", concept cher à l’écologie …par contre, les produits locaux sont -ils bio ?

Râmnicu Sărat ou Rymnik

BALADE dans le CENTRE VILLE

Râmnicu Sărat, en russe Rymnik, parfois transcrit en français Rimnik, est une ville de Roumanie,située dans une plaine à l'est des Carpates... dans une région agricole ...

En se baladant dans la ville, on dirait que le temps s'est arrêté ...les jeunes quittent la région pour des  contrées plus hospitaliers de l' Europe  ... Les immeubles ne sont plus entretenus... On va a l'indispensable certainement

Mais Râmnicu Sărat, c'est aussi la ville d'enfance de Nadia ..alors , elle la voit différemment d'un étranger ...Elle l 'a regarde  avec  son cœur ... avec la tendresse de ses souvenirs 

De Bucarest à Rymnik ....

Le plus difficile quand on sort en voiture d'un aéroport international , c'est d être sur qu' on est dans le sens souhaité ... La route en surbrillance, c'est que sur l'écran du GPS qu'elle est en surbrillance ...(même en Roumanie! )




Direction Rymnik ...champs de colza , prairies ...la morne plaine  aux couleurs du printemps

Une pause pour découvrir le petit faible des roumains  pour la crème fraîche...qu'on ne mets pas seulement sur les gâteaux !




On arrive a Rymnik ...Et Rymnik, c'est la découverte de l'hospitalité Roumaine ...on est d'accord avec le petit futé ..."l'hospitalité roumaine n 'est pas une légende" ....
On a été accueilli par la famille de Nadia comme si on faisait parti de cette famille ...beaucoup de chaleur et de  générosité

Une idée suite ….
au coup de cœur de mon neveu  pour ce pays
« Les gens sont fantastiques dans ce pays, très ouverts malgré les conditions de vie difficiles qu'ils peuvent rencontrer au quotidien…super contraste entre villes et campagnes, où l'on travaille la terre comme chez nous(en Ardèche)  il y a 50 ans »  Romain
Et  à la rencontre avec Nadia (le meilleur de la Roumanie ! :))

L'itinéraire

On a beau louer les services d'un guide local ....des vacances ça se prépare ...se mettre d'accord sur l 'itinéraire ...( on opte pour un "slow trip") ...prévoir un lit  pour la nuit ...
 et on arrive samedi 16 avril a l 'aéroport  international Henri Coanda - Bucarest

nb Henri Coanda  est un ingénieur aéronautique roumain, pionnier de l'aviation mondiale et du moteur à réaction

entre San Lorenzo al Mare et Ospedaletti

Construite sur l'ancienne voie ferrée, la piste cyclable entre San Lorenzo al Mare et Ospedaletti (environ 26 km) traverse de nombreux villages pittoresques le long de la côte méditerranéenne de la Riviera Italienne. Le parcours est facile , agrémenté de  vues superbes, de petits bars pour des pauses cafés ou repas.
